Here is my new project!
67 standard bug, 1641cc singleport.
Got it cheap and it runs like a champ, the perfect project.
I will try to keep a record here of what goes on with the car,
in case anyone actually gives a crap!

This is what the person i bought it from told me:
New clutch disc, t/o bearing, clutch cable, generator,
voltage reg., dog house and oil cooler, rear drums,
and the engine was recently rebuilt.

Bug goes into the shop for the first time under my ownership,
needs new shoes all the way around, and 1 brakeline needs replaced.

Got the bug back today, $680!!! ouch. labor is a bitch.
It turns out all the brake lines were filled with sludge,
the back plates that the brakes mount to on both front wheels
were so rusted out they crumbled in the tech's hands,
also needed 2 new wheel cylinders. oh well, at least its all fixed now,
and the brakes work great! now i can finally drive it around town.

Ordered a set of valve cover gaskets today,
i hope that fixes my massive oil leak.
Also picked up the Duplicolor "Mirage" paint system.
color changes in the light from green to purple.
im going to paint the engine tin with it tomorrow,
pics of the progress will soon follow.

Got my sweet finned aluminum valve covers from motorworks.com ......left one fit fine, right one barely has enough room, had to bend the surrounding sheet metal with a crowbar to make it fit. still leaks oil, tho only from the side with no valve cover clearance. i think the body is hitting the cover when i hit bumps in the road and breaking the seal. i will grind and bend more in the next few days, weather permitting.

well, didnt get to the valve cover clearance today but i did cut my dash
(sorry to all the die hard resto fans out there) to fit my stereo in.
i have decided to paint the car with spraypaint ASAP, just gotta scrape
together some cash....i should have got the liscence plate to say
"MNYEATR" instead of "UGLYBUG"
